Getting Ready for Tryouts
Rep, travel, or high school — tryouts reward players who've already put in the specific reps. That's what these sessions are for.
Shooting Mechanics
Clean form under pressure — the first thing evaluators notice.
Ball-Handling & Footwork
Tight handles and quick feet that hold up in live tryout drills.
Basketball IQ
Reading the floor, making the right read — the stuff that separates players.
Confidence Under Pressure
Mock-evaluation reps so tryout day doesn't feel like the first time.
Lesson Formats
Whatever fits your kid — and your schedule.
1-on-1 Lessons
Fully personalised sessions built around your kid's specific gaps — shooting flaws, ball-handling weaknesses, whatever's holding them back. Direct feedback, every rep.
Small-Group Lessons
2–4 players working together with real individual attention — a bit more social, still coached, still focused on results.

Lesson Questions
The things parents ask before booking.
What ages do you coach?+
Ages 8 to 18 — from a kid picking up the game to a high schooler chasing a roster spot. Sessions run 1-on-1 or in small groups of 2–4.
How much do private basketball lessons cost?+
Pricing depends on format (1-on-1 vs. small group) and how often you train. Fill out the form and we'll follow up with options that fit your budget and schedule.
Where do lessons happen?+
Centrally in Chatham-Kent — an easy drive from Chatham, Wallaceburg, Blenheim, Tilbury, Ridgetown, and Dresden. Exact venue details are confirmed when we schedule your first session.
Can lessons actually help my kid make a team?+
That's the whole point of tryout prep: shooting mechanics, ball-handling, footwork, and basketball IQ, plus mock-evaluation reps so tryout day isn't the first time it counts. We can't promise a roster spot — nobody honestly can — but we can make sure your kid walks in prepared.
Are you starting a rep league or an Ontario Basketball club?+
No — and we want to be clear about that. Chatham Kings is not starting a rep or travel league, and we're not registering a club program with Ontario Basketball. Our lessons exist to help kids make the teams that already exist — club and school teams — not to build competing ones.
Looking for a House League or Travel Team?
We focus on individual skill development, not organised leagues or rep/travel teams.
To be clear: we are not starting a rep league or an Ontario Basketball club program. Tryout prep exists to help your kid make the teams that already exist.
